DIY chalk

   YOU NEED:

• plaster of Paris and water (1:1)
• acrylic paint
• ice cube tray
• glass
• spoon
• measure cup

• mix acrylic paint and water well. It takes about 2 minutes.
• measure and add plaster of Paris
• mix it 
• pour liquid into the ice cube tray and wait until hardened. ( about 1 to 3 hours)
• take chalk out of the tray and dry for about 3 days

Now go and paint!

Egg lamp DIY

eggs.1. wash every egg. 2. make a small hole beneath the egg and blow the contents out using a straw. 3. dry the empty eggs.

lamp's base. 1. cut down a lid, leave only base of the box. 2. Make cuts in the small circles below in the form of the four "X"s shown below.  Make the cuts in all the circles.

 glue eggs with base and input lamps in the holes. hide cables in the holes between eggs. others- glue or fasten using tape. turn on the light!

All  April I have been growing seeds of different plants for our tiny garden on the balcony. I really want to grow something by myself!:) Summer in Saint Petersburg is so short and cold, so hopefully we will have time to taste the strawberries and peas which I have grown and our flowers will have time for blossoming.
So as to not forget what you are growing and also to decorate your garden, one can make simple pot
labels.

all we need:
thin wooden sticks
saw
plastic cards
superglue
sandpaper
black acryl paint

1. saw sticks of the correct height 2.Using sandpaper, sand the plastic cards, taking care not to forget the corners. 3. paint the card 4. glue the stick to the card. 5. draw, using chalk (be careful because the paint can peel off)

Sew a kid's t-shirt with a pocket.

 It has been a long time since I have sewn clothes. But now I started back again. Next in line is a kid's cap with earflaps and baggy pants.
I didn't have time to make a tutorial for this post, so, sorry. But I will give you a link where you can find all needed info. If you don't know how to make a pattern in your child's size, I advise you to take another long sleeved t-shirt of your child and make a pattern from it.
I deliberately  made the collar bigger than necessary, because little M doesn't like to put his big head thought small collars. ;)
Well, and a pocket. It  looks good in black- and- white. The pocket won't be used to carry heavy things, at most a few candies. :)

Kids' beads D.I.Y

Today it is time for funny kids' beads!
One of them you can even take with you and eat it!:))
The stringing of beads is not a simple task for small children as it may appear at first sight. Therefore, make strings of beads with a number of beads that does not exceed the limit set by your childrens' patience! :З

Fabric basket D.I.Y

In this week I made a couple of fabric baskets. They are very practical. Small baskets will fit well on the shelves and in the big ones you can put toys, yarn etc.
It's better to choose thick fabric and also use interfacing to help the basket hold its shape.
For counting the amount of fabric use the equation: diameter х the number Pi (=3.14159).  For instance, I have the diameter of the bottom 28 cm, so I need 88 cm fabric in length.

Kids' artwork collage

I found this  idea in Swoon blog and I really like it!
My boys with enthusiasm drew a couple of sheets using a water color. I cut circles and we glued them. We are done!)

Later I will post another collage project done with kids using different paper pieces (magazines, old books, etc.)

Kids musical instrument from jogurt cups D.I.Y

 

We need:

•  2 yogurt cups
• dry beans/peas/rice
• scissors
• sand paper ( in case, if cut edges are sharp)
• super glue
• stickers/washi tape (if you want to decorate it)

Cardboard Puppet Theater

We decided to do a puppet theater. Our boys love reading books. So, why not сhange things up a bit and start to show favorite tales on the stage?!). We used a cardboard box, cut it up, covered it with paper, added some stencils and I made a pair of curtains from old t-shirt. Then think about puppets. You can sew or cut up from cardboard puppets from your favorite fairytales and then start the show!

My friend made this cardboard puppets from the famous Russian fairytale "The speckled hen."

Once upon a time there were an old man and an old woman.
They had a speckled hen.
The speckled hen laid an egg.
The egg was not ordinary, but golden.
The old man beat, beat, but he didn’t break it.
The old woman beat, beat, but she didn’t break it too.
A mouse ran and waved with a tail.
The egg fell down and was cracked.
The old man and the old woman cry.
А speckled hen clucks.
The old man! Don’t cry!
The old woman! Don’t cry!

I will lay another egg for you, not golden – but ordinary.
